Tuesday
Today I did a few activities. Unfortunately, for many of the grade levels, because of my lack of exact planning, I changed the lesson each time. Ah! Teaching lesson number one: if you're going to fly by the seat of your pants, even if you think you taught them something, it isn't fair to the kids you had earlier in the day who didn't benefit from your revelations.
Lesson: be consistent with each class. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.
Also, because I haven't been necessarily planning each of my days a week in advance, it's hard to remember where exactly I am with each class.
Self-advice: Use the printed lesson plan as a map and indicate how much of the lesson was covered and successful. Mark down the class (ABCD) and any notes or a line where you ended.
For the new kids:
Get a routine down of special things Ms. Iverson does for:
-classroom management
-praise
-start/stop
-greeting/goodbye
Goals for me: I need a watch with a timer! Or, use my phone! I need to time activities so each class gets a fair shot at each activity, and so that they don't grow tired of anything. (too many times today kids got tired when they had to keep singing the same song)
